About the Internship
Interns at Pickle Yolk work closely with Richa Jha and create their own complete picture book with min 24 pages to max 32 in about two months.

Story in brief
The story revolves around a young girl who struggles to paint anything after winning a painting competition at her school. It is a journey of fear, self-competition and feeling freighted with responsibility and finally finding a resolution.

Process
Once the story—written with a clear arc of beginning, challenges, a low point, and a character-driven resolution, avoiding overly sweet endings—and characters were ready, the process involved crafting a 24–36 page storyboard with layered visuals, defining an illustration style, finalising sketches and colours, designing a suspenseful cover, laying and editing text, and steadily sharing work for review—completed at a self-paced rhythm within two months.

Pickle Yolk Books is a new independent publishing house founded by Richa Jha in New Delhi Capital Region, India. They publish picture books with universal themes and also in contemporary Indian settings. The stories are created in English.
